When does StagePay open?

Why WhatsApp?
It's where your clients already are. A WhatsApp message gets opened, while an email often sits unread or lands in spam. Your client taps the link and sees a proper invoice they can download as a PDF. If a client prefers email, StagePay can send it by email too.
How does StagePay know when a client has paid?
Your clients pay you directly, the way they do now: MyZaka, Orange Money, Smega or bank transfer. StagePay never holds your money. Each invoice link has an “I've paid” button where the client enters the reference from their payment SMS. You get a notice, check it against your own SMS or bank statement, and mark the invoice paid with one tap. You can also mark it paid yourself at any time, for example after a cash payment. Automatic matching of bank payments is coming soon.
Do clients have to send me proof of payment?
No more screenshots in your chats. The payment reference they enter on the invoice is the proof, and it's saved against that invoice, so you can always see who paid what and when. Once you confirm it, a receipt with a PAID stamp is ready to share.
How do the follow-ups work?
Reminders go out automatically on WhatsApp, so you never have to chase anyone yourself. You choose the schedule. By default a friendly nudge goes 3 days after the due date, a polite follow-up at 7 days and a firm final notice at 14 days, and you can add one at 30 days. Reminders stop by themselves the moment the invoice is marked paid. If the client taps “I've paid”, reminders pause until you check it, so nobody gets chased for money they've already sent. StagePay keeps the reminders polite and consistent, but it can't force anyone to pay. What it does is take the awkward chasing off your hands.
Do my clients need an app?
No. Invoices arrive in their normal WhatsApp.
Is StagePay VAT-ready?
VAT is calculated on every invoice. We're still confirming our invoices meet every BURS requirement, so please check with your accountant for now.
What happens after the free month?
You choose a plan: Pro at P100 a month for tutors and small businesses, or Business at P400 a month for teams.
